What to Pack

Think in layers and in neutral tones. Early morning game drives can be chilly, even in warm countries, and midday can be hot. Khaki, olive, tan and soft greens are best, and in some regions tsetse flies are attracted to dark blue and black, so we advise leaving those at home. Pack a wide brimmed hat, sunglasses, a warm jacket or fleece, sturdy walking boots for gorilla trekking, light trousers and long sleeves for evenings, a swimsuit and a good torch.

If your journey includes light aircraft flights, luggage is typically limited to around fifteen kilograms per person in soft bags, and we will confirm exact allowances. Several East African countries restrict single use plastic bags, so avoid packing in them. We provide a full packing guide with your final documents.
